Subtropics and Tigertail present composer Kasper Toeplitz and dancer/choreographer Myriam Gourfink in a 3-day residence that includes Gourfink's workshop titled Choreographic Composition through Yoga, and two music programs by Toeplitz – a lecture/demonstration and a concert.
FIRE was a month filled with music, dance, film, and visual art: site-specific events and new performance throughout Miami at theaters and un-expected locations. Events in FIRE dismantled labels and provided opportunities for audiences and Miami artists of all media to explore a dialogue between artist and participant.

This element – vital for all forms of life, 71% of Earth’s surface – gives and takes, creating regeneration and tragedy – tsunamis, hurricanes, droughts and floods, too much or too little. Events in WATER dismantle labels and provide opportunities for audiences and Miami artists of all media to explore a dialogue between artist and participant.

Tigertail’s FLA-FRA (Florida-France Festival) takes off on the first of April and runs for the entire month. A community-wide fête of concerts, films and pop-up Culture Clicks happening throughout Miami at theaters and unexpected locations, FLA-FRA embraces the French spirit of joie de vivre. This is the 2nd year of Tigertail's venture into new work from France and beyond. Each morning, Sunrise will take place at sunrise, right on the beach. Cédric Andrieux is a solo piece set by noted French choreographer Jérôme Bel on dancer Cédric Andrieux. The piece has been touring the world for the past several years. In this piece, Andrieux looks back over his career – at his early apprenticeship as a contemporary dancer in Brest, then at the Paris National Conservatory of Music and Dance, subsequently as a dancer with the Merce Cunningham Dance Company in New York, and most recently at the Lyon Opera Ballet.

Ten years of poetry annuals will be celebrated, honoring the editors of all 10 books. Sunstruck Matches, edited by Jen Karetnick, explores the theme of "pairings." Thirty-two poets and writers with connections to Florida – some acting together as collaborators on single pieces, a few writing in response to each other, and others working solo – contribute poetry, flash fiction and flash creative nonfiction. The FLA/BRA Festival
The FLA/BRA Festival began in 1995 as the New Vision Festival, bringing cutting-edge artist from Brazil to Florida and providing a structure for continuing exchange among artists working in Florida and Brazil.
FLA/BRA was held each fall until the incidents of 9/11/2001. Several of the 2001 festival events were re-scheduled in the winter and spring of 2002.
