By popular acclaim, Chouinard's internationally renowned Montreal-based company returns to Miami.

"A sure sign, in France, when the applause all starts to follow the same rhythm, that a show has a bright future. After three enthusiastic encores, the high priestess of quebec dance jubilantly saluted the 'holy Trinity' – a réverence for each dancer, an arms-wide embrace for the stage and a walk-about through the rows of the visibly packed theatre." – Maud Cucchi, La Presse

Henri Michaux: Mouvements was created at the Impulstanz, Vienna International Dance Festival (Vienna), It includes 64 stage-height pages of India-ink drawings by Belgian painter and poet Henri Michaux. Here is an excerpt of the description of the creation of Mouvements, from the company's website:

In Paris in 1980, the German sculptor Klaus Rinke presented Marie Chouinard with a work entitled "Mouvements" by Henri Michaux. A Belgian poet and painter, Michaux explored the inner zone, experimenting with drugs that gave rise to his "mescalinized" works. His book "Mouvements" comprises 64 pages of India-ink drawings, a 15-page poem and an epilogue, presenting multiform figures that Marie Chouinard took delight in reading literally, from left to right and page to page, like a choreographic score.

Marie Chouinard, twenty-five years later, decided to create a piece from Michaux's "feast of bursting lines, spots and kaleidoscopic arms." The choreographer thus proceeded to decipher the positions of the body depicted by the artist. The voice plays an important role since Carol Prieur recites various excerpts from Michaux's poem and epilogue, and even sings certain passages from the "Mouvements", which could also be musically transcribed. Michaux's drawings are projected against the backdrop of the stage, allowing viewers to make their own personal readings of the artist's score. As a visual echo of a black drawing on a white page, the COMPANIE's dancers, dressed in black, dance on a white floor.

Note: includes partial nudity.
