presented as part of Tigertail's April-long FLA-FRA Florida/France festival

At only 29, Adrien Moignard has become the leading guitarist of "le Jazz Hot" tradition, which began with Django Reinhardt in the 1930's. With flawless technique, he has become the hottest performer in Paris' jazz manouche clubs and DjangoFest events throughout the world. He will be accompanied by NYC-based bassist Sam Anning, who plays in French jazz singer Cyrille Aimee's band.

Watch these interesting instructional video excerpts of Adrien's. After that quirky little intro, let him teach you how to play:

Here's a decidedly more exciting and less pedantic demonstration – Adrien playing Minor Swing:

Adrien Moignard was born in 1985 and started playing guitar at the age of 11. He discovered the music of Django Reinhardt at the age of 15 and fell in love with it instantly. He moved to Paris at age 20, where he was introduced to modern jazz. For the next 5 years he honed his style and in 2010, he recorded the first album under his name, All the Way, with Benoit Convert (guitar), Jerome Regard (double bass) and Xavier Sanchez (percussion). 2010 was the 100th celebration of Django Reinhardt's birth, so Adrien performed in many Django festivals around the globe, including several here in the U.S. Recently, Adrien has performed with Cyrille Aimee with the release of her CD It's a Good Day. As Aimee is now based in New York City, he looks forward to touring the U.S. with her band.

Doors for this event will open at 8:00pm. Come early and enjoy crêpes and French wine while you socialize and view pop-up performances in the Black Box lobby!
