FAST FORWARD & BARRON SHERER Covalent Bond is a Tigertail-commissioned multimedia performance work created by New York composer Fast Forward and Miami artist Barron Sherer. Macro-zooming into WATER as the thematic driving force, Covalent Bond is an experiential work that embraces all aspects of this important chemical compound. Read Artburst's interview with Barron Sherer about Covalent Bond Known for his lifelong music studies in metal and common day objects, Fast Forward will make music with instruments floating in his "pool table". Barron Sherer will randomly sequence multi-channeled projections of contemporary and archival water imagery. Original motion pictures and videos shot by the artist, plus forgotten, orphaned films are given new context through juxtaposition and re-purposing. Prior to the concert, from 8:05 to 8:25 PM. a discussion will be held in the spacious lobby of the On.Stage Black Box. Light, Vapor, Clouds will be examined by climate scientist Dr. Paquita Zuidema and visual artist John Bailly. The bonding of science and art will be explored as performance in Covalent Bond. A discussion of light, vapor and clouds – material to both science and art – will prepare the participants intellectually for this bonding interaction. Arrive early for the discussion and chill down with food from Crepe Maker and good beer & wine! Fast Forward is a New York City-based composer. He specializes in making music with objects that are created for non-musical purposes. He toured extensively as a guest composer and musician for the Merce Cunningham Dance Company, directed Robert Ashley's iconic opera "That Morning Thing" and gives concerts worldwide. Barron Sherer is a Miami-based, time-based media artist, archivist and researcher. His films and videos have screened locally, nationally, and internationally. |
