TIGERTAIL PRODUCTIONS PRESENTS

Tigertail, A South Florida Poetry Annual, Volume VI, Brazil Issue

Join us at the debut of Tigertail, A South Florida Poetry Annual, Volume VI, Brazil Edtion, edited by Horácio Costa and Charles Perrone. Costa, a renowned Brazilian poet, essayist, translator and professor from São Paulo, and Perrone, a professor at the University of Florida and an authority on Brazilian culture and poetry, will both be there, along with special guests, to read and sign books. This is the first bilingual edition of this annual publication, showcasing the best of Brazilian poetry, in its original Portuguese and in English translations.

The 15 Brazilian poets in the book include Contador Borges, André Dick, Franklin Alves Dassie, Marcelo Diniz, Ricardo Domeneck, Leonardo Gandolfi, Simone Homem de Mello, Eduardo Jorge, Mauricio Matos, Delmo Montenegro, Antônio Moura, Ronald Polito, Virna Teixeira, Diego Vinhas, and Adriana Zapparoli.

Editor Charles Perrone says,"Editing and producing a volume such as this one entails a lot of brainstorming, communication, and processing, especially considering the transnational dimension." Meetings between the co-editors took place in Miami, as well as in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, the two largest cities in Brazil and, no surprise, twin centers of poetic production. Yet the selection of contemporary poets is truly national; they hail from locations in the extreme south, the midlands and the distant north. They include writers who have relocated internally or, in a couple of cases, internationally, and who have followed different career paths, from classic liberal professions (law, pharmacy) to the academy (literature, other disciplines). The books' cover is designed by Miami-based visual artist Julie Davidow; project coordinator for the book is David Beaty; and book design is by Vortex Communications.
