Judith Smith from AXIS Dance Company in San Francisco and Victoria Marks, an internationally respected
choreographer from Los Angeles, are part of this year’s danceAble. Now in it’s sixth year, danceAble has a
range of activities for dancers and non-dancers. You can dance or be a part of the audience; all are welcome.
danceAble is a distinctive collaborative project co-presented by
Florida Dance Association and Tigertail Productions held within the
Florida Dance Festival and throughout the year. Now in its sixth year,
this unique program focuses on dance as a vital art form and a
fundamental means of physical expression for persons with and
without disabilities. danceAble confronts traditional dance
ideologies and challenges the notion of who can create and perform.
Direct support for danceAble is provided by the National Endowment for the Arts,
Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation and Miami-Dade County Department of
Parks and Recreation, Leisure Access Services. Florida Dance Association and
Tigertail Productions are members of the National Performance Network comprised
of arts organizations located throughout the United States. The NPN and this
presentation of Victoria Marks have been made possible with major funding from
The Doris Duke Charitable Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts.
