Friday, April 25, 8:30pm & Saturday, April 26, 2:00pm:

This solo is performed on a raised catwalk. As the body propels forward with the stillness of time itself, it gathers incredible momentum, and gestures become gravity-defying feats.

Friday, April 25, 8:30pm
Saturday, April 26, 2:00pm

Miami Dade County Auditorium
On Stage Black Box

2901 West Flagler Street

On Friday, arrive at 8pm and enjoy Heather Maloney's Culture Click, Crêpes and French wine.

In less than ten years Gourfink has become one of Europe's leading contemporary choreographers, known for work that requires extreme physical control and results in a strange and boundless beauty. Gourfink uses the respiratory techniques of yoga as her source that leads to movement. Electronics and percussion music by Polish-French composer Kasper T. Teoplitz surround and intensify the movement that slowly unfolds.

Please note that the originally-scheduled program for the Saturday matinee, Courbeau and Marine have been replaced by a repeat of Breathing Monster. The dancer who performs Courbeau has had a last-minute illness and had to cancel.

Saturday, April 26, 2014, 8:30pm: CÉDRIC ANDRIEUX

Cédric Andrieux is a solo for renowned contemporary dancer Cédric Andrieux. In this illuminating work, leading French choreographer Jérôme Bel asks veteran dancer Cédric Andrieux to reflect on his life as a dancer and confront the question of what drives him as an artist. Integrating excerpts, Bel provides an intimate look at Andrieux’s career by using snapshots of the renowned contemporary dancer’s life in dance, his training in France, his years with the Merce Cunningham Dance Company, all narrated and danced by Andrieux.
