Symposium: WATER – VISIBLE AND INVISIBLE At the FIU College of Architecture + The Arts Miami Beach Urban Studios, four panelists and a moderator will take a multi-disciplinary examination of the nature, properties, place, significance, importance and role of WATER in the life and culture of this planet. The aim is to explore and identify water as a substance fundamental not only to life and but also to culture and the arts. The seminar will also bring attention to current environmental issues concerning water, issues of sound and water, global art projects addressing water, its control and conservation. The panel will be moderated by John A. Stuart, Associate Dean and Executive Director of the Urban Studios in conversation with Tiffany Troxler, director FIU Sea Level Solution Center; Doug Wartzok, provost emeritus FIU Department of Biology; Shamina de Gonzaga, executive director World Council of Peoples for the United Nations and Orlando Jacinto Garcia, composer-in-residence and professor of Music at the FIU School of Music. |
